I have mostly been working on Spartans in anticipation of the Wargods of Olympus Kickstarter coming next month. I love the Spartans but I am really looking forward to the Amazons and Trojans. I have a ton of Spartans and almost none of the line troops are ready as I am assembly line painting them. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will get a unit done and maybe some more heroes.
I have always been a fan of diversity in armies, that is why my Anubi have Reaper and Fenryll character models in the mix and my Spartans being a much larger army than the Anubi have a bunch of non-Crocodile Games minis. This mini is from Ares Mythologic, I think it is called the Spartan General. I am planning to use it as a Strategos proxy, I have a Croc Strategos but I think this mini will fit in well with the Tale of War character models I plan to use with one batch of Spartans. I have an extra Strategos shield to add to him but it is not nearly ready right now. Last I checked Ares Mythologic does not sell this mini anymore. They had some really cool 32mm Greek and Egyptian things and even one cool Roman mini. I am glad I bought them all when I did, as finding them now is difficult.
I am going for a very dark and grim vibe on the Spartans and I think this mini conveys that. He still needs some touch up, a wash on this legs, and basing, plus the aforementioned shield. I am not sure if I going to do the basing anytime soon as I might wait until the majority of the army is painted and switch them to non-beveled bases instead. That look is more pleasing to me. I guess we will just have to see.

Next we have a promo mini for Croc's upcoming Trojans. He is a regular old spearman but I really dig the sculpt. He still needs some work here and there, mostly detail stuff, touch up, and basing. I wanted him to look vibrant and a bit more upbeat than the Spartan. He looks really bright so I may or may not wash the armor to tone it down a bit.
And here we have a few shots of the Spartan and the Trojan. I think they work well together and show off the differences in the ways I want to have in the looks of the armies.
